WhiteOak's Witches Brew Recipes

WhiteOak's Witches BrewI am a tea drinker!  A day does not go by that I do not drink tea and in the summer it is usually Green Tea.  So I was thinking, why couldn’t I make a Black Witches Brew and turn it into a punch?  So this is my Witches Brew concoction.  What is better in the autumn than those rich, spices and those tart apples?

How to make your witches brew look even more ghoulish!

-Fill an ice tray with a gummy worm and water freeze and add to brews.  As the ice melts, it will let the worms loose and free to roam!!

-To add a floating hand, fill a latex glove with water and tie off with a knot or rubber band then freeze. After the hand is frozen, run under a little warm water to loosen and remove the latex glove. Add to brew!!

-To make your brew glow add glow sticks as your swizzle sticks.

-One of the cutest things to do but it is time-consuming is to peel grapes and freeze them. After they are frozen add to the brew... while they melt, the slimy texture will fill the cauldron and as the peeled grapes go into your mouth... the slime will feel like an eyeball!!

Witchy Stuff is not just for Halloween

Regardless of popular belief, witches are not just out on Halloween. Not all witches have green skin, warts on their nose and crackle like they have a frog in their throat! Yes, Great Pumpkin witches are everywhere, every day and all around you.  Here are some links that may interest you.

Burning Black Candles:  Burning black candles often has a negative connotation because they are associated to witchcraft, evil and darkness. However, wearing dark colored clothes especially black is considered very fashionable and sensual. Decorating your home with black decor is very stylish. Do you believe there is a difference between burning black candles and/or wearing or decorating your home with black colors?

Kitchen Witch: What in the world is a Kitchen Witch? It is a woman who places magic in every aspect of her home. Everything from cooking to cleaning to decorating and gardening. She is the 'Keeper of the Home' who ensures it remains safe, cleansed of negative energy and is nurtured on all levels.

Cauldrons:  On Halloween the two things most associated with the witch is the broom (besom) and the cauldron. Very seldom will you see a picture of a Halloween witch without seeing her with either a broom, a cauldron or a black cat.  It appears that on Halloween everything is seen through different light and excitement. Actually, the cauldron is a very interesting piece of equipment. It has all kinds of stories attached to it along with legends, myths, and tales.

Triple Moon Goddess Symbols:  The Trinity of life is something that is very important, regardless which path you walk. From my earliest childhood memories, my grandmother taught me about the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is known as the male aspect of the trinity. As I walked a little further on my path, I began to understand more about the triple goddess aspect in my own life: the Maiden, the Mother and the Crone.

Wise Woman Herbal Healing:  Healing Wise is one of the best books I have ever owned. I have referenced back to this book so much that I am afraid the pages are going to fall out. Susun Weed, who is the author teaches us the importance of using herbs that grow in our own backyards and reconnecting the invisible thread that was given to us from our fore-mothers.

Kitchen Witch Yule Drink:    Yule is a celebration of the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere and below the equator winter solstice falls around June 21.  Winter Solstice takes place on December 21 and it celebrates the rebirth of the Sun. It marks the shortest day of the year when daylight is the shortest. That is one reason why Yule is celebrated with lighting of a lot of candles to represent the Sun's Light.
